Monthly Sermon.
Amen and peace be upon you today through the name of Jesus Christ Amen. Blessings, glory and dominion is for and to the Lord Jesus. God the creator of the universe is good and great all the time, He is the Father overall and of all Amen. This is the time of refreshing and outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:1-4 -
1. When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2. And suddenly there came a sound form heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
4. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The Bible states that at Pentecost we must come together and be of one mind and one heart. As I write this correspondence to you I am in prayer and intercession for a personal refreshing and bathing with the spirit.
For me Pentecost is not just an event or a flash moment but it is a daily lifestyle. I say so to highlight the daily hunger and need that I experience for the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is a person who hears and who communes if you allow him for that time. If you do not make it your daily necessity to ask Him to come and dwell with you, He will not force himself on you. Your hunger and deep sense of thirst connects you with Him.
Question is: Why do you or we need the Holy Spirit?
Jesus said in John 14:18
– “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you."
Realize that the key word of the verse is “orphans. Do you see my point? Without him (Holy Spirit) we are orphaned!! We are lonely, unprotected; we are really exposed to all sorts of dangers. The Holy Spirit as our daily Helper is a necessity, for without him we are just lost and we lack focus.
How do you connect with Him?
Answer : Go to the gospel according to St. Luke 24:49
– “49. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high. Please read it again and again."
Keyword in this picture is “Tarry/Dwell”. Exactly you are right, sit in the position allocated –think of this as a food sewing point or queue, if you are not in a line you do not get serving. Even if you are seated at a wrong table you are in danger of getting a wrong order. The spirit according to Jesus must be waited upon a specified (Revealed) place. Also in verse 49 it states that the spirit is from on high (above) in heaven (not from earth). Holy Spirit person is not an earthly acquisition but the spirit is a heavenly gift from God.
Go back and just read Luke 11:13
–“11. If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
That addresses the question of “who will get this gift from above?” Verse 13 says “the father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.” Amen.
Yes you saw and read correctly. Ask God to give you His Spirit – God will give because you are His Child.
Dear Reader, I cannot finish this column without emphasizing that the Holy Spirit is a gift of grace. Also it must be treated and handled as such...By thanking the giver and constantly thanking Him for feeding you with His free gift. Do not use the Holy Spirit as a fool to destroy or kill or mistreat God’s people. Just as Paul the Apostle wrote in the
1 Corinthians 12:7
7. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.
The spirit is given to you for the “Profit” of all –for the gain (help) to others. I pray that during this season of Pentecost you may get to your knees more and be rooted on that floor –groaning and crying for a fresh outpouring over your life. Amen
When the Holy Spirit comes upon you ask Him to teach you to be humble and be a servant and a helper to others (not for gain or fame). Do all that you do to edify the church, to edify the community and to edify the country. With God’s power you can bring transformation to the systems of the world which are contrary to His Word.
The Holy Spirit understands the good, perfect and acceptable will of God the Father – Romans 12:2.
2. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Finally, as the Holy Spirit dwells in us now we will be able to fulfil the greatest commission of
Matthew 10:7-8
- 7. “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’

8. “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
And signs of Mark 16:17-18
17. “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18. “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” will follow you and me and the church of Christ’s Believers.
Now may the good and the great Shepherd and Bishop and Overseer of our Souls, the Advocate Jesus Christ be with you today, Amen.
